Life under Chronic Hypoxia (Low oxygen)
Chronic Hypoxia is the low oxygen pressure at high altitude. Life under chronic hypoxia in the high altitude cities of the world is carried out as at sea level. People are born, develop, practice sports, get married, have children and live perfectly normal lives. There are many benefits of life at high altitude, with lower cardiac diseases, less asthma, and even extended longevity.
Our Society
The concept is the advancement of high altitude science particularly in relation to life at high altitude
President & Vice-President
Our leading scientists have extensive experience in high altitude medicine and physiology uniting 2 continents.
History
The International Society of Chronic Hypoxia was founded in La Paz, Bolivia, during the 2nd Chronic Hypoxia Symposium.
Members
This is an open society and we welcome those dedicated to high altitude.

The Society
We strive to improve the health of the high altitude residents. Our knowhow is changing how hypoxia is interpreted around the world.
Why join us
Because you will do interesting networking.
To be part of a dream
Understanding chronic hypoxia opens a new vision of tolerance to low oxygen levels. We work together to show the world all this valuable information.
To meet great Scientists
Our members are distinguished scientists from around the globe.
A unique world Society
The city of La Paz, Bolivia is the highest (3,100-4,100m) most populated city in the world. Our airport is located in the neighboring city of El Alto at 4,100m above sea level.
